FAQ

Yes, you must be a certified teacher to qualify for the Teach Australia program. Australian schools typically require teaching credentials that align with their national standards, and this certification helps ensure you meet their educational requirements. 

To qualify, you must have a minimum of 4 years full-time teaching experience, a recognized teaching qualification (with supervised practicum), and meet the English language requirements.

Yes. Unless you studied in or are a citizen of an English-exempt country (USA, UK, Canada, Ireland, New Zealand and Australia (non-citizen)) for at least 4 years, you must take the IELTS Academic test and meet the minimum scores required.

You need a minimum score of 7.0 in Reading and Writing, and 8.0 in Speaking and Listening on the IELTS Academic test. No other English tests are accepted.

Teachers are sponsored on a Skills in Demand (Subclass 482) visa. This allows you to live and work in Australia for 2 to 4 years.

As you are sponsored by your Host School, the visa application will be prepared and lodged by their immigration lawyer. 

It’s recommended to start the application process at least 6–12 months before your intended start date. This allows enough time for finding a teaching position, gathering required documentation, and completing the visa process. 

Yes, Alliance Abroad assists you in finding a teaching position as part of the program. They work with schools and educational institutions in Australia to match you with a suitable role based on your skills and experience. 

Teacher salaries in Australia vary depending on location, experience, and the specific school. On average, teachers can expect to earn between AUD $70,000 and AUD $100,000 per year, plus superannuation. The salary details will typically be discussed as part of the job offer. 

Yes, health insurance is required for the 482 visa. You must secure adequate health coverage prior to arriving in Australia.  It will be activated on the day of arrival and needs to be valid for the duration of your stay in Australia, as this is a visa requirement. Alliance Abroad can provide guidance on obtaining appropriate insurance. 

Some schools can provide housing, either on a temporary or long-term basis, depending on the location.  If it is not provided, Alliance Abroad may offer support and guidance in finding accommodation in Australia. 

Yes, you may bring your spouse and dependent children under 23 with you on the 482 Visa. They will be granted dependent visas, allowing your spouse to work and your children to attend school. Your spouse can work full-time in most roles, if they obtain the necessary registration for professions where it is required. The visa and associated legal fees for your family is at your own cost.

Yes, you will be able to find international as well as local food in Australia. Australia is known for its diverse culinary scene, influenced by its multicultural population and strong agricultural industry. While local cuisine is abundant, especially in regional areas, urban centers offer a wide variety of international restaurants and food options.

In some cases, yes. After two years with the same sponsor, you may be eligible to transition to permanent residency. This is only applicable if you are under 43 years old.
