Eligibility
To participate in the Teach Australia program, you must meet the following eligibility criteria:
- Educational Background: A bachelor’s degree or higher in education or the subject area you plan to teach.
- Teaching Experience: A minimum of 4 years of relevant teaching experience.
- English Proficiency: You must meet the English language requirements, typically proven by an IELTS or equivalent certification.
- Skills Assessment: Successful completion of a skills assessment conducted by the Australian Institute for Teaching and School Leadership (AITSL), which evaluates your qualifications and English language proficiency.
- Health Check: You’ll need to pass a health check to ensure your fitness for the role.
- Background Check: A national background check is required to ensure a safe and secure environment.
Working With Children Check (WWCC)
In addition to these requirements, all teachers must obtain a Working
With Children Clearance (WWCC) specific to the state or territory in which they plan to teach. This check ensures the safety of students and is a mandatory step before submitting your Teacher Registration. You must hold a valid WWCC notice for the Teacher Registration Boards to assess your suitability for the role. This is critical in ensuring the safety of the teaching environment and your ability to work with children in Australia.

Working With Children Certificate
Apply with the relevant state/territory authority. Please note that you can apply for your WWCC once your visa application has been lodged.

Complete the teacher registration process, which is specific to the state or territory where you will be teaching. Please note, you can apply for state/territory registration once your visa is lodged.
Employment Begins
Travel to your new city for onboarding and training at your new school.
